Masters At Work
In 1990, Kenny Dope and Louie Vega formed Masters at Work (MAW), revolutionizing house music with their distinctive sound, blending Latin percussion and soulful vocals. They remixed legends like Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Daft Punk, becoming iconic figures in the dance scene.
Kenny’s creation of the “broken beat” style came after watching jazz dancers in England, influencing their tracks like The Nervous Track (1993). Their 1997 album Nuyorican Soul marked a major milestone, solidifying Kenny as a leading producer.
MAW’s influence on the 90s dance scene is undeniable, with timeless tracks and albums like Our Time is Coming proving their lasting impact as pioneers of house music.
